U-9 / U-10 Travel Recreational Teams
U-9 and U-10 Travel teams are designed to transition In-town players to play travel before they move to the next division, which are travel only divisions. U-9 and U-10 is a recreational program that helps players move to a larger field and play with more players on the field. Travel coaches will work on foot skills and developing the player’s ability to understand the Laws of the Game. Coaches also stress the "love of the game". All U-9 and U-10 travel players will also play for an In-town team. Participation in the In-town program is mandatory. Players cannot play only travel at the U-9/10 level.
Recreational Teams (TRAVEL REC TEAMS)
Recreational teams are designed to help players to develop skills so they can compete at a higher level. All players must be committed to their team (attend practice, listen to their coaches, practice their new skills, and play as a team member). Practices are at least twice a week and players must call their coaches if they are unable to attend a practice or game 24 hours in advance. There is a five score sportsmanship rule that states no team should beat another team by more than 5 goals. At the recreational level there is also a rule mandating equal playing time for all team members, except for reasons of injury, illness, or discipline. The emphasis is on development of the players' foot skills, team work, fun and knowledge of the game.
Competition Teams
Competition teams are designed for players with developed skills as assessed by our bench marks established by the MSC board of directors. Try-outs are set-up with a coach running a series of bench mark drills. Neutral assessors mark the players using the bench marks and score the players. After the try-out, the coach uses the assessment to determine his or her team. All players must be committed to their team (attend practice, listen to their coaches, practice their new skills, and play as a team member). Competition teams have no scoring limit. The level can be competitive to extremely competitive depending on the degree of competition team (low, medium and high). Practices are at least twice a week and players must call their coaches if they are unable to attend a practice or game 24 hours in advance. The emphasis is on a high level development of the players' foot skills, team work, fun and knowledge of the game.
Travel Games
Games are usually no more than thirty minutes away. Players must contact their coaches 24 hours in advance if they are unable to attend a practice or game. If the team does not have enough players, the team will forfeit and the South Central District will fine the club. If the team forfeits two games, the team is disqualified for the season.
