In-Town Information

We understand that your child may be new to the organized sports experience no matter what age level he or she may be starting.   This page contains details about our In-Town program where most of our families start.

Fall and Spring Seasons

MSC conducts In-town seasons in both the Fall and Spring each year.  The Fall season marks to beginning of the soccer year and when registering your child for the Fall season you will be presented with the option to sign up for the entire year (including the following Spring) at a discounted rate.

The Fall season typically starts in early September and runs to late October. The Spring season is slightly longer in that it starts in early April and wraps up in early June. The extended duration in the Spring is due to the fact that we do not play soccer on Memorial Day weekend and we add an additional week to close the season with a simulated In-Town Tournament and awards ceremony.

The goal is to conduct 8 sessions but the number can be reduced due to inclement weather or poor field conditions.

When and Where do we Play

The In-town Program takes place completely at Kronenberger Park in Meriden. All teams participate in the same sessions on Saturday's in the fall and spring according to their designated time slot based on which division the player is in (as defined below).  Each session starts with the entire division participating in professional led instruction. After the instructional component the group breaks off into their designated teams to play games. The game schedule will be posted online and on the concession stand at Kronenberger Field.

In-Town Divisions

Within the In-Town program there are three divisions. U6, U8 and U10. Each division is co-ed and contains children spanning two birth years.

U6 – Please see the Age Matrix Below for the Birth Years for this division. They play a small sided format of 3 versus 3 with no goal keeper on a smaller field using smaller goals. Players require cleats, shin guards and a size 3 ball.

The U6 session runs from 11:00 AM – Noon on Saturday mornings.

U8 – Please see the Age Matrix Below for the Birth Years for this division.  They play a small sided format  of 4 versus 4 with no goal keeper on a smaller field using smaller goals. Players require cleats, shin guards and a size 3 ball.

The U8 session runs from 12:15 PM – 1:30 PM on Saturday afternoons.

U10 - Please see the Age Matrix Below for the Birth Years for this division. They play a small sided format of 7 versus 7 (including a goal keeper) on a smaller field. Players require cleats, shin guards and a size 4 ball.

The U10 session runs from 9:00 AM – 10:45 AM on Saturday mornings.

We are affiliated with the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association and are guided by state and national regulations. We strongly believe players should play in their age-appropriate division. Request to play up or down a division is highly discouraged.

Should you need further assistance please contact the appropriate person for your division from the In-Town Directors listing on the Contacts page

Uniforms

Children participating in our In-Town program will receive a uniform (shirts, shorts, socks) based on the size information provided during player registration. Each Fall after registration closes team names are assigned and uniforms are ordered.  These uniforms are expected to be worn for 2 seasons (Fall and Spring). New uniforms will only be issued in the Spring to new club members.

Commitment

The In-Town Program does not entail the same level of commitment as our travel program, however, players that sign-up are expected to participate in the majority of games and practices. Teams are right-sized to maximize playing time; as a result, non-attendance does have an impact.

Practices

In addition to our Saturday training/game sessions our In-Town divisions usually have one mid-week practice once per week.  All practices take place at Kronenberger Field, but practice days and times are set by coaches for each team just prior to the season opening. If you find your child has a conflict with the coach’s practice schedule please notify your coach or the In-Town Director so they can attempt to find another team for you practice with. Players will not be moved to another team once the rosters are issued at the beginning of the season.

Players are expected to arrive a few minutes before practice is to begin and ready to play.  We require shin guards and cleats to be worn and water bottles in hand.  Parents should remain at the field during practices and plan for our ever-changing New England weather.  Please make sure your player has the proper clothing so that their practice is focused on skills and not the temperature.
